Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family with volunteering in the community. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They had him raised on the farm they owned in Eufala. Second football he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. During his three years as Oklahoma's starting quarterback, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. In his role as a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third season in the year 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work in his college days. After college, he moved in Tampa and played for nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. He then began his professional career. He was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the top 10 young men across the nation. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993, he was appointed the athletic director's assistant at the University of South Florida. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player on the 28th of October, 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. His parents, Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
